Items needed:
- Circular saw to cut wood as well as an electric sander to clean the panels.
- 4 pieces 2x12x8 lumber from Home Depot. 3 pieces of 2×4 ¾” plywood panels. Make sure they are straight and not crooked. Try to purchase wood that doesn’t have any cracks but if it has small cracks that is okay such as a hairline crack because we can use DryDex since it dries fast.
- Use two pieces and trim off about a 1” with the circular saw. The reason for that is that our 2×4 plywood panels will have an edge for us to lift. Also use the sander to smooth wood out.

- Take a 2x12x8 piece of lumber and cut in 4 20.5” pieces. These will be connected to the long wood to create the frame. The width it will create will be 2” on one piece + 2” on the other piece + 20.5 = 24.5” However a 2 x 12 piece of wood is actually 1.5” in width and not 2”. We then will end up with a cabinet width of 23.5”. This is great since our lids are 2’ = 24” in width.
- Make sure to place the 20.5” in between the long pieces and secure on the sides with deck screws. Make sure to use a small drill bit to predrill the boards for the screws hence the wood won’t split.
